Clinical data management teams are the foundation for a successful delivery of a clinical trial.

The role of the data manager involves collecting the raw data from the clinical operations teams and preparing it for the statistical programmers to handle for the submissions to the regulatory authorities.

In most cases it is key that the data management professionals have in-depth knowledge of the standards for clinical submissions, as preparing the data in the correct format is crucial for the study to be approved by the authorities (I.e. in CDISC standards for the FDA).
